Bunny help!

ok..i have a bunny whom my kids adore, and sometimes we let him out to play and get some exercise but she seems to want to eat everthing she comes across, including her own food bowl even when there is food in it. we've bought some buny chewy toy things that help sharpen her teeth and stuff but she wants nothing to do with it...and now i'm getting worried cuz shes been eating my carpet and furniture and even ate threw the electrical cord to my tv...i kno this stuff she eating is probably bad for her and its gotten to point where i hardly take her out cuz she eats everything ( tho shes never bitten any of the kids or anything like that) but even in her cage she eats her food bowl and thats made out of this normal? what can i do to stop her from eating everything..i've heard a few people say that she can die from eating plastic and i'm worried about her...

  • Yup.....some rabbits will eat everything. I've had them, and the ones like you describe could only be let outside in a small fenced area, not in the house. Some are "better behaved". Buy small metal dishes and he won't chew that. Put a small log in his cage and that will help satisfy his need to chew. You will have to provide him with something to chew, or you'll have to clip his teeth.

  • definitely need to keep bunny in supervised area and like others said, get a portable fences to keep bunny in designed areas. Bunnies aint the only one, most rodent like critters will eat anything.

  • metal bowls! more chew things in the cage. she's not going to stop chewing. she has a very limited world view. She chews, gets petted, and poops. bunnies only do what feels good for a bunny. If she chews through another electrical cord, she could get electrocuted. All of her cage, play area, and bowls should be metal so she cant destroy stuff.
