How many visits to the Pediatrician in a year?

I was wondering how many times should a mother take the baby to the Pediatrician during baby's first year?

  • I think they are supposed to go within 2 weeks of age, then again at 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months & 12 months. So that is about 5 visits. However, that does not mean you will only be going that many times. We went probably around 12-15 times to the doctors office and/or urgent care during my son's first year because he had chronic ear infections. Now after getting tubes inserted 4 months ago, we've been ear infection free!

  • HMMMM, trying to think back. I think there are about 5 scheduled visits. Your childs ped. should tell you when to come back after the initial visit (shortly after birth).

  • you will schedule the first appointment wheile in the hospital after the birth. Upon each visit they will tell you when to come back next- and add 3-4 visits for when you think baby may have an ear infection, might have swallowed something... etc.
I think about 6-8 all together.
