Any good ideas on how to start a wieght loss plan?

My husband has to lose weight drs orders. He has already had one heart attack and the dr says he needs to lose at least 50 pounds. However, NO excersion? He is only 37 and I am scared. Any ideas???

  • The DASH diet is a good way to change eating for life and to loose weight. Go to google and type in DASH diet. I lost 50 pounds on it.

  • I would start with simple changes.
    Walk, or do other exercise, for at least 20 minutes a day, at least 3 times a week.
    Make sure that you are drinking enough water, at least 8 8oz glasses a day.
    Eat an apple or big pile of veggies before meals.
    Eat 7-8 servings of fruits and vegetables a day, in at least 3 different colors.
    Eat 6-7 servings of whole grains a day.
    Eat at least two servings of legumes a day.

  • take a walk together every night after dinner. bring the kids. maybe make him get a dog (a small one that cant do excessive exercise but needs walks) and the dog will encourage him to walk. walking with a partner is much more fun. a dog can help him create a social network with the dog walkers in the neighborhood.
