In your experience, is it true that each of a woman's babies will be bigger than the one before it?

(I mean, of course, with the exception of multiples or babies born really early or really late.)

My daughter weighed just over 9 lbs when she was born. At the time, my doctor joked, "That's it, I am delivering you at 38 weeks from now on!" The women in my family keep telling me that, under normal circumstances, my future children will just keep getting bigger with each pregnancy. We will be trying for baby #2 some time within the next year or so, and this thought worries me a bit.

  • My mom:
    me- 6 lbs 9 oz
    sis #1- 6 lbs 14 oz
    sis #2 (20 yrs later)- 7 lbs 14 oz

    For me:
    daughter- 9lbs 1 oz (40 wks)
    son- 8lbs 11 oz (38 wks)--was expected to be 10 lbs
My doc said MY babies WOULD get bigger each time because my uterus is UNUSUALLY LARGE for my body size (I am a small framed woman). I got my tubes cut, tied, and burned...no more big babies for me...lol

  • Well hon, I don't think you have anything to worry about.
    My babies weights-
    1st- 7lbs 11 oz
    2nd-7lb 3oz
    3rd-7lb 3oz
    4th-6lb 9oz
    5th-6lb 5oz
    6th- 7lb 9oz
    7th-8lb 11oz
    8th-9lb 11oz
All were 40 wks except for babies 3 & 8 they were over due by three wks and baby #4 was three wks early.
I believe it just depends on the baby.
    Good luck to you.
