Can taking an iron supplement make swelling worse?

I explained my problems with severe swelling to my mother and her answer was to stop taking my iron pill

Could that be related to my swelling?

  • I had to take an iron supplement twice a day for the last 10 weeks of my pregnancy and I didn't have a problem with swelling. I drank a ton of water though.

  • Do you have low iron. If so I wouldn't stop taking it without a doctors okey. I would also try some gatorade to reduce the swelling. If your electrolytes are messed up, you could be retaining water for that reason. About 8 oc. a day did it for me, but it still took awhile for the water to be expelled. If you don't have low iron stop taking it and see.
