Has anyone had to put the 3yr old on benefiber to reduce chronic constipation?

DD has tried the gummy bear fiber supplement and it really isn't enough fiber I have called her doctor and I am waiting for a call back. How much Benefiber did your pedi recommend?

  • My peditrician recommended Miralax but I don't remember the actual amount. You might ask about that as an alternative . . .

  • She is was on miralax to relieve the blockage but I had thought it was only until she was clear she said bring her to diarrhea for 3 days cause had not had a BM in 9 days. Then begin a fiber diet but I had her on fiber gummy's which do not a darn thing.

  • A child shouldn’t be constipated. You should be able to adjust your family’s diet to prevent this.
Dairy, bananas and sugar are all constipating; meat does not have fiber. Drink lots of water, eat fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes. Replace white rice with brown, white pasta with whole wheat, white bread with whole grain.
