Pork Roast in crock pot ... will it be done in time for dinner?

ok i need some help on timing here ladies

3.7lbs pork shoulder roast in netting in my crock pot with 1 can chicken broth and carrots on low ... i put it in at 11am will it be done by 7pm? should i put it on high at some point for an hour?

  • yes, low for 6 hours and high for the last hour or so.

  • I was going to say the same thing.......depends on the crock pot.

    Some crock pots cook faster than others. I would check the roast around 5:00 and if it isn't close to being done I'd turn it to high. Once it is done you can always turn it back down.

  • What time is it for you now? I would put it on high for a couple hours then back on low. That's a pretty big piece of meat to cook in 8 hours, but I have cooked 2-2.5 lb roasts in that time span on low before without issue.

  • Good Lord yes it will be done! As long as it was not frozen, but maybe even frozen 8 hours is PLEANTY of time for it to cook through.
