does this seem right to u?

my ds was born 10 ilbs 2 oz, went down to about 9 pounds 13 oz then came back up to 10 pounds 11 oz in 5 weeks, he eats about 2-3 oz every 3-5 hours daytime and at night wakes up at 1 am and then around 4 am for another 3 ozs....does that seem normal to u?

  • Yes, it is normal for babies to lose about a pound in the first little bit. And the feeding schedule sounds normal too for babies! You are doing great momma!

  • Yes, babies normally lose weight while still in the hospital too.

  • My dd was also 10lb 2oz at birth. She only lost a few oz and was 9lb 15oz when we left the hospital. At her 1mo check up she only weighed 10lb 11oz. She ate the same amount as my others, the way I see it is she was so big to start that she didnt need to gain alot!!! BTW she will be 4 in 2 mo and is just barely 30lbs now!!

  • my son was 7 12 when he was born and then 3 days later when we were discharged he weighed 7.0 i thot somethin was wrong too but they said its normal

  • Hugs! And Congrats' to you on your Baby! Yes this sounds perfectly normal! I know we second guess ourselves. But this sounds typical! Except saying its your most perfect Baby!! Enjoy! They grow up too fast! Except on your sleep deprived days you may not think so but its true!!
