I love toast but ...

Why do toasters always have a setting that burns the toast to a horrible crisp no one would eat?

  • I have no idea.
My toaster burns toast into a terrible crisp even on the light setting!

  • On the few toasters we have owned, when it starts to not brown properly on the correct setting we turn it up to brown it. Eventually, we end up on the highest setting just to get a lightly browned toast. When it stops browning we buy a new toaster. :)
