my 7 month old son is coughing, wheezing and breathing funny.

I see the area around his ribs and right below his breastbone go in everytime time he breathes. Is that normal? I dont recall ever seeing that before. Should I just wait it out or take him to the ER? He gives me smiles every once in a while which makes me feel everything is okay he just has a cold. What do you all think?

  • No that isn't okay. It means he is working much harder to breath... called retractions and it's a sign of distress. He needs to be seen by a doctor ASAP
