What is the poverty level now?

I'm curious to know if we are over or below the poverty level. My DH was laid off and I only bring in about $800 a month in tips and wages.

  • The 2009 Poverty Guidelines for the
48 Contiguous States and the District of Columbia Persons in family Poverty guideline
    1 $10,830
    2 14,570
    3 18,310
    4 22,050
    5 25,790
    6 29,530
    7 33,270
    8 37,010

The first number is the number of people in your family, the second is the income level. If you make below that you are considered to be below the poverty line.

  • Oh yeah, you are there....but so are we.... :( Does your hubby qualify for unemployment? Im not sure what the actual numbers are, its based upon number of people in household, but do whatever you have to do to survive. Good Luck

  • My hubby was denied unemployment and we have 4 in our family.  It really sucks.

  • Well you not the only one in that boat. It really sucks to be looking for work at this moment.

  • 33.270 for afmaily my size. THey really need to redo the poverty level. I would consider a family of 7 poor if they made 40,00 or less a year.

  • Technically, the Duggars live near the poverty level. They aren't bitching.
