  • Warm tea with lots of honey. Or salt water if you can stand it.

  • I gargle with warm salt water (non-iodized salt.) I've been using a Neti-pot and that mixture (can buy it in a grocery store or pharmacy) to clean out my nasal passages and it cuts down on the post nasal drip that is a cause of sore throats. I also like Airborne. Honey and lemon tea. Echinacea tea.

  • Try gargleing with Listerine also.

  • Honey-lemon tea, gargling with warm salt water, steam (put a towel over your head and lean over a sink full of hot water for a few minutes), throat drops, lots of fluids. I get sore throats a lot when the heat is on (as we've had it on a few days now) because it dries things out. You can also take a spoonful of honey once every four hours, if you can stand it!

  • make a syrup with equal parts honey (antibacterial) and cayenne pepper (anti-inflammatory)
