  • Too many people placing items on layaway then not coming to get them...then by the time they restock them, no one wants them.

Save up the money before you go to buy a big purchase instead of depending on a credit card.

  • I don't know why, but why not just go to another store that does layaway? I know K-Mart does it.

  • Oh and if it's a christmas item...most banks offer a christmas club that you can put money in but cannot withdraw it until Oct-Dec timeframe so you don't get tempted to use it for other things.

  • I don't know why they quit but it pisses me off!  I was a layaway fanatic for things like Christmas and birthdays.  It SUCKS!  I feel your pain on this one!

  • I dont know but i miss it!! It would be great for christmas shopping! Ugh. And Kmart just sucks. At least around here. Does Sears do a layway too since they own Kmart?

  • From what I remember, they got rid of Layaway to force people into applying for their Walmart credit card. Trouble is, most people who qualify for credit cards aren't using Layaway anyway. I liked it for the convenience of being able to shop ahead of the crowds, and keep my stuff there til just before Christmas so I didn't have to worry about where to hide everything before I got it wrapped.
