  • anon :58, if it isn't Communism what is it. This anniversary is for the bloody revolution that put the communists on top. You simply can't spin that it isn't communism.

grandmarga, it doesn't matter how multicultural a city is. Celebrating a bloody revolt and the ensuing 60 years of blood and tyranny is nothing the US should be celebrating.

  • My answer in another post.
The Empire State Building in New York City will glow red and yellow Wednesday night to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the People's Republic of China. New York's tallest skyscraper regularly changes its iconic lighting for holidays and events. This time, the building's choice of occasions to celebrate is drawing more attention than usual, and backlash primarily from conservative bloggers. [1] New York's Empire State Building will light up red and yellow tomorrow to honor the 60th anniversary of communist China, according to the skyscraper's official website.[2]
Sorry to inform you but NYC is a multi cultural city with many New Yorkers who are from China.

  • There ya go!
I knew it was more Conservative fear-mongering when I saw this...on another post, the poster tried to bash our President again, thinking it was all Obama's decision to light up the EmpireState Building. Hahahaha. She was wrong--again. ;-)

  • China was known as Imperial China until the Communist takeover, 60 years ago, when it became known as THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA. Try getting an education, will you? Obviously the light display is to honor the communist takeover.
