Need gift ideas please!

Well my neighbor just had a baby boy. She's 15 and I don't know her well BUT my son's cousin got her pregnant so her mom invited me to see the baby tonight. I want to pick up something for her but I'm not really in the position to ask her what she needs. Plus I don't know how big the baby is or anything.
What's a good standby? Should I just get her some diapers? LOL

  • Since she's 15, she probably needs practical stuff more than anything else. You can't go wrong with diapers, wipes, or gift cards. At a baby shower I attended someone brought a laundry basket, Dreft, and a variety of other practical baby stuff - I thought that was a good gift. If I go with diapers & wipes or a gift card, I usually throw in at least one little baby toy or some cute baby socks so it won't be such a boring gift.

  • try a nice blanket. or maybe a diaper bag. diapers are always a good stand by but even this is tricky. we didnt know my son would be wearing size 1 diapers when he was born. or maybe something for her.not the baby. or a baby pre made gift basket from the store.

  • What about a cute baby toy, baby blanket, or a gift card-- that way they can buy what they need/want for the baby?

  • Oh yes diapers are wonderful! Just buy size 1 or 2 and she will eventually use them. Hooded towels/sets are nice. For her....maybe a pretty necklace or bracelet that says family or mom or something.

  • One thing my dd got at her baby shower was a piggy bank for baby. Or it would also be nice to get a CD of lullabies.

  • My standard baby gift is a hand food mill, a copy of Super Baby Food by Ruth Yaron, and a cute outfit.

  • I like to get a picture frame (not a baby one) a 3-6 month outfit everyone buys 0-3 mos, and a baby toy. I don't think you can go wrong with that.
