  • Ask him why he runs off. And then explain to him that you would like him to stop and why it is dangerous.

Really listen to why he does it (let him explain and ask him questions so you fully understand) and then hopefully you should find the answer.

  • Keep a hold of his hand, OR get one of those kid harnesses like a dog leash. I know lots of moms think thats terrible but it will keep him from running off. Teach him about stranger danger and how someone could take him or how he could get hurt if he dosnt stay close to mommy who will always protect him.

  • Is he wandering off or getting upset/angry/frustrated and literally running?

  • do not let go of his hand/wrist AT ALL!!! he will get so tired of you constantly holding on to him that he will eventually lear to stay, esp if you tell him that you will let go if he stays, but if he runs off again he has to hold your hand

  • If it has become such a problem then you may need to consider a harness for his safety. Make him earn your trust to get off of it.

  • Explain to him and make sure he is listening and understands why he's not to run off like that. you could al;so bribe him , tell him if he stays by you whenever your shopping. and when he does one day treat him to a movie another take him out to lunch another day take him out for ice cream,
etc. you could even just maybe buy him a little toy. just something that is $2.00 or $3.00 dollars.nothing big .you choose but choose different things all the time.
