Do you wash new clothes before first use?

Pants, shirts only, how about underwear? How about toddler and baby clothes?

  • I wash everything before wear. Often clothes are preserved with formaldehyde and who wants that on their skin?

  • Of course. It gets some of the chemicals out. Clothes are treated with chemicals including formaldehyde, a known carcinogen. I am allergic to formaldehyde and do much better with thrift store or yard sale clothes that have been washed many times.

  • ALWAYS. ESPECIALLY BABY CLOTHES!! I won't wear anything from the store, it stinks and has dyes and chemicals, and I won't even wear socks without washing first. And babies have sensitive skin, so I would never put anything on them without washing!

  • I always wash my clothes when I buy them, all my clothes because I never know who has tried them on and if they had lice or what they put on it or whatever.
