  • You don't put it in her milk, because by the time she's drinking milk, she's going to be eating real food.

Juice isn't needed, but usually started around 6 months (well, per our pediatrician anyway)

Cereal in a bowl is usually started 4-6 months. Other than that, if they are hungry, you just give more formula.

  • Cereal at 4-6 months. The AAP is less clear on juice. They recommend 4 ounces for children 1-6. There really isn't any reason to give juice less than a year. If you did it would seem like it would be 4-6 months and less than 4 ounces a day. White grape is supposed to be best. If you want to see all the reasons juice is bad you can find the AAP statement on juice.

  • The US is the only country where they start solids at 4 months, NO WHERE else do they say that it is good, safe, or wise to start children on solids ANY earilier than 6 months. The reason people started solids earlier was when their children in the early 1900's were malnurished because women did not know how to breast feed. Its just spilled through to current times. Also starting children on sweets in any form early has been linked to heart disease and adult obesity. I would wait as long as possible, if she needs more look into different formulas or talk to your doc about introducing liquid nutrients. Good luck!!! :)

  • I skipped juice but started offering water at about 7 mos when it was obvious he just wanted to suck, he wasn't really hungry. Never did cereal in the bottle, but did start offering him cereal at about 12 weeks. Added applesauce at about 4.5 months. and new fruits/veggies every three days after that.
