Is it true that menthol cigarettes help chest congestion?

  • Smoke + chest congestion, something here isn't adding up. I heard this when I was a smoker too and I have to say I never tried it because when my chest was really congested, I tried to smoke only when the craving got really bad.

  • You're kidding right? My mom smoked menthol her whole life & she got COPD & died. Didnt help her "congestion" much.

  • Um, no. And this is from a former smoker of 20 years who smoked nothing but menthol.

  • First of all cigs don't help congestion at all... Now I am a smoker and I can say that when I am sick and Feeling the need for nicotine.. Yes, it is easier to smoke a menthol than a full flavor!
