Does it make sense?

If they are concerned about the numbers in Afganistan why are we still in Iraq? Why are they refusing to recall the ones on the 4 years of inactive service at the end of their contracts? Why are they refusing to enact another stop loss like the last time they were worried about numbers?

  • For that matter why don't we just napalm ALL their poppy fields so the Taliban CANT get any $ for the weapons and wars on us and the regular citizens of that country? Why should ANY of our US troops be over there at all? This is ALL over religion and we have NO business fighting religious battles for other countries.

  • Vbruno, we are over there becaus there is oil. If it was a barren region, we would let them all kill each other like we have basically done with Africa.

  • I thought most of this was because of oil too---but Carpy refuses to believe that . And you know she is the authority and has the last word on "everything" here at Cafe Mom. @@
I would love to see all our troops come home NOW.

  • I dunno. Maybe if Obam would bother to chat with McChrystal more than once every 10 weeks or so, we'd have a much clearer understanding! LOL

Obama IS the President now (so I've heard), and this would be one of those "things" he inherited that he is responsible for dealing with--good, bad or indifferent, it's his baby now!

Maybe the fact that he has no practical experience or comprehension of war tactics and operations is the reason why he is dodging McChrystal, and instead opting to go with his primary strength that of continuing with his worldwide talkathon tour! LOL

  • McChrystal helped covered up Pat Tillman's death. I think someone else should be the person in charge there.

Well, then shouldn't Obama have replaced him by now? You know, seeing as he IS the Commander in Chief and all?!

My guess is that Obama a.) doesn't really care or b.) is unaware of the situation--seeing as he was only a community organizer/senatorial candidate at the time, and wasn't responsible for anything that happened prior to his becoming a junior senator! (sarcasm)

You really can't can't say we are over their for the oil without going into it further. First, Afganistan has no oil. Second this has been going on for years, way back to Carters administration. What was wanted was an oil pipeline across Afganistan. Unocol wanted to place a pipeline across Afganistan and other countries to the caspian sea. Negotiations have been on and off since 1979 with the Taliban and others. Many things have happened since they started negotiations for this perfectly viable venture. There would have been nothing wrong with the alliance. Negotiations stopped after incidents such as the Cole bombing and the Towers falling. I'm pretty sure there is no one is over their trying to get oil or land for pipelines now.
You need to tell the facts.

So our troops only "invade" other countries because of oil? If that's the case, when will we be done drilling oil in South Korea? You know, since our troops have been stationed there since 1952!! LOL

If we were going to attack a weaker country for their oil, why don't we just attack Canada?
