when should a baby begin to to hold his/her head up?

my daughter will be 4 mths next week and she only holds up head up for a second or two. So when did your LO start holding their head up? I have another question when did your little one begin to sit up by his/her self?

I know that every child is different and will acheive milestones at different times. I just want to know around or about what age should i expect to see these changes.

  • My son held his head up at 3 months (actually he could at birth for about a month and then he got too chubby and couldn't do it anymore LOL)

  • My son held his head up around 4 months but was still very wobbly. I worried about his development in the beginning but now he is doing great. Sometimes it happens slowly and they catch up. All babies are different.
