At what age did you start feeding table food to your kids?

What age did you start feeding table food? My son is almost 7 months old and my family insists on feeding him anything that is mushy. I have given him a few bites of mashed potatoes here and there and tiny little bites of some things I was eating to let him try it, but how long would you wait until really introducing table food as a part of their everyday diet?

  • I would say my little one was about 7-8 months when we really started giving her table foods. Now she is 10 months and normally atleast one meal is 80% table foods.

  • Depending on the ingredients my son started getting smashed food, not meat, but other things, around 8 or 9 months. But I made baby food from fruits and veggies fresh a lot earlier than that. But waited until 9 months for proteins, and we put the meat through a processor.

  • Once they were comfortable with solids - I'd guess around 7 months opr so, we introduced table food. We eat pretty healthy and homemade stuff, so it wasn't really that different from baby food. Just more texture.

  • As soon as they had teeth and could chew on things I started introducing things to them. The formula or breast milk will be the nutrition for the first year, but in my opinion it doesn't hurt to try different foods with different textures.

Here is a post with some thoughts from moms on baby's eating habits

    Hope that helps!

  • 6 months.

They were totally on table foods by 9 months.

    But that worked for us.
