  • Some of the tests the doctors have can detect the pregnancy hormone much earlier than those that we the public buy over the counter. Plus they have the option of running a blood test!

  • they only did a urine test. and they make it sound to her like all tests are that way. she found out 9 dpo and 6 days early.

  • ok so i just got the full story. she went and he didnt even give her any test. he just said theyre all the same and should work within 72 hours of getting pregnant. then he gave her a due date that is a week earlier than it would be if going by her period.

often implantation hasn't even occurred within 72 hours! maybe he meant 72 hours after implantation, but still 6 days after conception is too soon for hpts in almost all cases. who knows what he was thinking!

  • Oh great so now if she goes past 40 weeks aka 39 true weeks ( usually periods are more accurate!) he'll get all induction happy on a baby that isn't even 40 weeks. Atleast if she goes into preterm labor and has a premie they'll believe more in her baby surviving and not just write the baby off.

I freaking despise most OB's. Ignorance and making things difficult to understand for a regular person are only two of the reasons.

72 hours past implantation sounds about right. 72 hours after conception is a crock.

  • She needs a new doctor. It takes 5-6 days for the ball of cells to get to the point where it starts to hatch and is then able to attach to the uterus. Once it buries itself in, then it starts to put off the hcg picked up in the tests. It takes a bit before it is high enough to be detected. Maybe she misunderstood?
