Is this true?

I was told that a pacifer helps reduce the risk of sids! Is this true?

  • Yep. Gerbers makes one that my son LOVED. It was shaped kind of like a bulb. He weaned himself off of it when he was about 7 months or so, but he used that over anything else.
    it's the sucking motion that kind of "reminds" them to breathe is what my nurse told me.

  • My son wont take one. I have bought every kind there is. I asked the doctor about the SIDS and he said that a binki dosnt change the risk of it. SIDS happens when a child is sleeping and they dont suck on a binki when thedy are sleeping.

  • They do suck on the binki when they're sleeping... it's a reflex or ... something.
    My son used to do it all the time, while sticking his tongue out, like it was wrapped around a nipple.
    And all 3 of my friends' kiddos did it too...

  • I know that the Gerber Flex Like Mother's Breast pacifier reduces SIDS up to 70%. I have only been able to find it in Target and I absolutely love it!
