whats this story from the bible?

i cant really remember how it went, a king noticed his people were worshiping false idols so he sent his servant to find people to build a great church and gave him all his money but the people stole his money, and the servant came back with a book and said 'open the book'

i know i butchered it a lot but i would like to read it, can someone tell me what its called?

  • But no one stole any money. He had his servant go and count the money which the people brought into the house of the Lord. His servant was to go and deliver the money into the hands of the builders and people that are making the repairs to the house of the Lord. Vs 7 says there was "no reckoning made with them of the money that was delivered into their hand because they had dealt faithfully." It was then the high preist found the book of the law in the temple and showed it to King Josiah's servant. The servant read the book before the King and Josiah rent his clothes because he knew that the wrath of the Lord was kindled against the land because their fathers and they themselves had not harkened to God's words and laws. God was going to bring judgment upon the land for their disobedience and serving other gods. But King Josiah would be spared.

  • Yeah, you did kinda butcher it - but I'm gonna take a stab here - Are you talking about Menasseh, in 2nd Judges - around chapter 21?
