How soon after taking first steps did your baby start walking?

My daughter turned 6 months old on Sept 29th. Well on Tuesday she took two VERY wobbly steps by herself. Yesterday she took 3 and then later in the afternoon stood for about 30 seconds without holding on to anything. I'm wondering if this is normal at 6 months or could she be walking soon? She hasn't started crawling yet. Should I try to hold off on letting her walk and try to get her crawling first? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Could be, you could have an early walker. My daughter who is 7.5 months old has took a total of 15 steps since 5 months. 3 here, 2 there ( I call them excitement steps, do not know if they are actual steps but cute nonetheless). I was full out walking at 9 months, like put me down in a store and I would walk down the aisle walking. So your daughter could be getting prepared for full out walking soon.

  • My daughters held onto things for a long time before actually letting go. I think they started holding on walking at around 7 months. At about 9 months, they were both taking a few steps without holding on. Right after their birthday, they started walking.
