  • Use sour cream, not light or fat free, instead of the oil or butter called for in the directions.

  • You can also substitute sour cream, whipping cream, or milk for the water in the recipe and leave the butter or oil.

  • Fat makes cakes moist. Proteins help hold the moisture in and keep it well distributed. So cream cheese, sour cream, yogurt, heavy cream, and egg yolks will all help keep a cake moist.

    Also! Don't over bake!

  • My favorite cake from a cake mix.....stays really soft and moist for days!!!

    Delicious Cake

    1 box yellow cake mix
1 small box instant vanilla pudding
    4 eggs
    1 cup sour cream
    1/2 cup oil
    1/2 cup water

    cinnamon sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare a bundt pan
Mix all ingredients but cinnamon sugar with mixer. Spread half of the batter in bundt pan, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar, spread remaining batter over cinnamon sugar. Bake for 40-50 min. or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool slightly, invert onto serving plate.

Now.....leave out the cinnamon sugar, and you can use any flavor cake mix and pudding, and make this as a regular cake. REALLY moist and delicious!! You can also replace the sour cream with canned pumpkin, use a spice cake mix, and delicious easy autumn cake!!

  • We make cakes with a can of soda- match the colors of the cake and soda. Super easy, and it stays really moist- dh calls it squishy cake when we feed it to people!
