to early to carve pumpkins??

will they get all dried out and be nasty b/f halloween?

  • I always wait til the day of or at the earliest the day before if we are going to carve, but that is because the neighborhood squirrels make a smorgasboard out of the pumpkin immediately. They seem to really love pumpkin once it has been cut. They have never touched a painted pumpkin. I think that maybe they can smell it once it is cut?

    If you don't have the squirrel issue, I would suggest either painting to make it last longer or not carving until the week before Halloween to avoid rotting, etc.
