Why do people just have to complain and complain

I helped in coordinating a fun family event. This event included free activities for children. Vendors were also invited. Just today I got an evaluation from one vendor complaining that the free activities were interfering with her/his sales. The free activities were in the mailers and advertising since the beginning.

Why do some people have to be unreasonable with their complaining?

  • They have that right to complain.

  • OP here,

Sure, everyone has the right to complain.

But the info was present since the beginning. There is no reason why the person should be complaining. If that person does not like the free kids activities, then that person should not participate. I'm talking about complainers without foresight or thought.

  • Don't invite that vendor the next time you plan an event.

  • Just because you think they were unreasonable doesn't mean they were. Maybe they honestly didn't realize that the free activities would interfere with their sales. Maybe they did, but it interfered much more than they expected.

Regardless of why they are complaining and whether it is valid or not, you apparently asked them for an evaluation and you got one. It may not be one that you like or agree with, but when you ask for something, you take that risk. They are complaining, but if you look at your question, really, so are you. Everyone complains. That's life.
