I want to call the police but dont know if this is something to call for.

My cousins babysitter/caretaker gets drunk almost everytime he watches them. The mother does not care as long as he is not driving them. She says he is more fun when he is drinking. Her kids are 16, 9, & 7. If the police come can they even do anything since the babystter has her premission to get drunk? If they do come what would they do. And yes the babysitter drives drunk home late at night when he is done. PLEASE GIVE ME ADVICE... Am i being overly protective of them?

  • Call the police late at night when he leaves after he has been drinking, they'll get him on a DUI and hopefully that'll be the end of it.

  • You're more likely to get your aunt or whoever the parents in trouble for child neglect. And why do they need a babysitter when there is a 16 y/o there??

  • The 16 year old has been ordered by DSS to not be alone with the kids he is abusive. Its hard to know if the babysitter gets drunk everytime and i dont wanna call for no reason.

So what is the difference if they are alone, or the babysitter is drunk? I would call someone and not care WHO gets into trouble! That is just not a good decision on the parents part!

  • The parents should be charged with neglect. Thats messed up to allow someone to drink and get drunk while watching your children. No offense, but wtf is wrong with your aunt for allowing that?

  • One other point, if the babysitter is driving home drunk, your aunt can be changed because she lets him drive home this way.

  • I might sound mean, but someone who is allowing her kids to be cared for by a habitual drunk deserves to be charged.

  • Seems like they should all get looked into. If the mom is leaving them alone and knows whats going on, she is just as much as fault as the babysitter

  • OP HERE- I agree with you all. i cant stand her and for lots of reasons but she does not deserve to have her kids. Im thinking of a way to get them away from her.
