If the moon exploded...?

...what do you think would happen? Would the larger pieces become multiple smaller moons remaining in the Earth's gravitational pull? Would the existence of multiple, smaller moons or the absence of any sort of moon have an impact on life on Earth (like the effect the moon has on the tides, etc)?

  • If the moon exploded, the earth would tilt on it's axes, the equator would become the north and south poles, the ice caps would melt, and the earth would stop rotating. Basically, Al Gore would go on TV and say, "I told you, haven't I been telling you?! But, no, you wouldn't listen to me." (as he holds up his NPP medal to prove he is smart.

  • it would be the end of the earth as we know it. watch pretty much any history channel special on the moon and they'll explain how important its role in our survivial/the way everything on earth is.
