I have a 3yr boy that will pee pee in the potty sometimes here and there and won't potty train on a regular basis and haven't even gotten close to pooping in the please give advice? I'm ready to stop buying pull ups!! Thanks

Pee pees in potty maybe twice a day and sometimes not even that much. Have tried rewards after going and doesn't do it for him. Have tried bragging about big boy underwear and have bought some. Have let him wear them asking him if he has to potty telling him if he goes in his big boy underwear he has to go back to baby pull ups.

  • boy did i hate pull-ups and there so expensive. with my son i kept long tee-shirts on him with nothing underneath. i would consentrate on putting him on the potty every 20 minutes. he got the hang of it. another great thing is whatever toys they like, keep on hand-everytime he goes reward him with something. make it a game and he will love to play. boys take longer to train.

  • STOP BUYING PULL UPS. Take him to the store let him pick out his own pack of undies, and put them on him. Take him to the bathroom every 15-30 min. You are going to have messes, but you have to be consistant with it. When we stopped using the pull ups my son started using the potty, because he didn't like the feeling of being wet, if we put pull ups on him to go for the day, he refused to go potty. We took a big chance, and let him wear his undies out all day, and we had NO accidents. He has been potty trained both day and night, since his 3rd birthday.

  • Keep him in cotton underpants only, no more pull-ups (except at bedtime). He'll have a few accidents, but it won't take many for him to realize that he feels that feeling and then "uh-oh, I'm wet". Run him to the potty even if he wets himself, that teaches him that's where he needs to go when he gets that feeling. We rewarded our son with M&M's when he peed in the potty, once he mastered that, he only got M&M's for poop in the potty. He just turned 3 last friday and has been accident free for 4 months. Don't use pull-ups during the day anymore, your child KNOWS that they are diapers.

  • A friend of mine put underwear OVER the diapers for a while eventually (and it didn't take long) he wanted to wear just the big boy pants no mre diapers, he was 16 months old.

  • Stop buying the pull-up's! Put him on big boy underwear and let him get wet a couple of times. He will get it...My son was 2 1/2 and wore pull ups only at night. Was out of nighttime pull ups by 3rd bday.

  • Stop the pull ups b/c at his age he understands that the pullups will catch the pee and poo and he won't feel all messy....put him in underwear...when i potty trained the 3 1/2 year old twin boys i keep we did pullups for months and months w/o any one day i said no more pullups - only underwear...they pee'd in them often, but they didn't like how they felt wet...and boy did they poop in them....but when they did i took them in the bathroom and after getting the mess under some control i made them clean themselves, dress themselves...i stopped babying them and putting them on the changing table...

  • i have to took about 1 month for them to begin to get the pee under control but they still had accidents...what really worked for them was to go w/o underwear and pants in the beginning and we set a 30 minute timer and they had to go when it beeped...this lasted about 1 month then they were able to wear underwear w/o many peepee accidents....but the darn pooping took least 2-3 months of accidents but they got less frequent and they even waited till bedtime to poop in their underwear...but then one day clay started going #2 in the potty and about 1 month later his brother chad started and since then they've been completely potty trained.
