Tiny canker sores on his tongue?

My two year old has about 5 canker sores(at least I think that's what they are) on his tongue. He has a habit of putting his hands in his mouth all the time. Is there anything I can do for him?

  • They are inflamed tastebuds. They will calm down.

  • It could be from a virus related to the hand/foot/mouth virus - my son gets 1-3 blisters on his bottom lip & maybe on on his tongue, and it's from that - it's not true h/f/m but it's related to it. Nothing we can do for it either, except keep his hands out of his mouth.

  • I looked it up and they could be caused by the toothpaste we used the other night. I couldn't find the kids so I used a tiny bit of mine. Could I have him gargle salt water?
