when does a doctor check for dilation???

Okay so Im 35, almost 36 weeks pregnant
I have an appt to see my OBGYN on the 14th
he said he was going to:

measure me (fundal)
check urine like always
check blood pressure etc.
test for strep B
and do a quick sonogram to see babies exact position

He didnt mention anything about checking my cervix....when do they normally start?

    For some within the last month (or two).
    You can ask for it if you want, but it's optional & doesn't help anything (even the opposite).
    It won't tell you any useful info, more likely make you wonder and have expectations. Not to mention the introduction of bacteria and possible stripping & rupture.

    You can also asked to be palpated for position to avoid unnecessary exposure, too.

  • Mine didn't until 38 weeks unless I was having issues and she was worried about it, which only happened with one baby, and then it was 37 weeks. With one she never did til I was in the hospital.
