Can I use my gas stove to heat the house?

I don't know how to turn on my gas heater but i have a gas stove. can I use that?

  • You can call your gas company and they should come and light your furnace. It's not safe to use your stove, it's not vented.

  • No, do NOT use your stove. Like pp said, call the gas company and they'll help you out!

  • No, don't use your stove to try to heat the house. It does not vent to the outside, and the build of of carbon monoxide could be lethal.

  • We used to use our gas stove but go to your sister's house anyway. Better safe than sorry

  • My mom's whole house gets hot when she makes pot roast, maybe just for a while like as long as it would take to cook something ( 2hrs?)
