my daughter was in the hospital since friday with pneumonia. she has to take breathing treatments at home. i have been giving her breathing treatments plus the antibotics they prescribed and shes still coughing like she needs a breathing treatment. she does this right after her breathing treatment and does until its time for another one. do i need to take her to the er or wait till i get her in to see her doc either tomorrow or tuesday?

  • The cough is going to last a while. The breathing treatment is helping to break up the mucus in her lungs and chest making the cough more productive. Do NOT give her the treatments more than prescribed. The meds are steroids and should be used as prescribed and nothing more. If she isn't having issues breathing, I would just wait for her appointment.

  • my daughter has the same thing, she was in the ER yesterday we went in the day before that but she seems to be doing better, if your daughter isn't getting better i'd take her in right away.

  • The cough is because she is tring to get the crap out of her lungs. Do not give her meds to stop the cough Mucinex is good with breaking up the crud and helping them cough it up
    good luck
