  • The going rate in our area is $5 for one child and $7 for 2. My daughter has never babysat for more than 2 kids at a time so I'm sure the rate would go up if there were more children involved.

  • I think it can vary tremendously based on the ages and number of your children, the age of the sitter, the number of hours and frequency of the sitting job, etc. I had to work Saturdays for a while and I paid a college student $10/hour to watch two toddlers. I had an evening class for 6 weeks and I paid a college gradutae $10/hour with a guaranteed minimum of $35. If my children were older and my sitter was younger I would expect to pay considerably less. The $3 - $4 you have in mind sounds reasonable unless you have several young children, but if that is the case I would definitely recommend looking for an older sitter.

  • it also depends how difficult your children are. when i was in high school (10 years ago). I was paid $20 to watch two kids for 3-4 hours on saturdays. The reason they had to pay so much is because there kids were horribly spoiled brats and no one would put themselves through that torture for less that $20. That was alot of money back them.
