Mayans don't believe 2012 is the end...

The Mayans themselves do not believe that their ancestors' calendar predicts the end of the world literally.

And honeslty, If it is the end of the world what exactly is panicking about it going to do? its not going to stop it. If its the end its the end.

  • Reminds me of Y2K.lol People freaked out about that too. Some people are not happy unless they have something to whine or freak out about. The masses believe anything.

  • I think it simply cuz it has been 13 years since Y2K... people have nothing better to do (apparently!!) than fuss about something they cannot change even if it is true.. bet these same people don't recycle and drive SUVs and don't believe in man caused global warming... lol

  • Only people that don't understand Mayan culture are freaking... Which in a country where ignorance is a way of life, that means a lot of people! There is no reason to believe that the Mayan calendar has anything to do with the end of the world in a literal sense... Every religion has their beliefs about how the world began and how it will end... Many Norse paths teach that a wolf will eat the moon... Do you think they ever believed a giant wolf was coming to eat the moon? No, it's a metaphor... Just as this and any other end of the world religious tradition is.

People believe in the rapture literally as it is in the bible, why not a wolf eating the moon? Pagan mythology was created to explain why things happen that they didn't understand. I have no doubt that way back when, they DID believe a wolf would eat the moon just as the Greeks believed the sun was a guy in a flaming chariot.
