How do you heat your home?

What is the most effective way? We have baseboard heat and want something different this winter, hopefully cheaper?

  • We bought a wood burning stove... it heats the whole house. Even the 3rd floor. We never have to turn the heat on

  • I use central heat and air. With 3 small children it is the safest and easiest way to insure that every room stays warm.

  • We have a wood furnace in our basement with a propane furnace backup. We fill the propane tank (300 gallons) once a year and burn about 12 to 14 cords of wood. We're comfy all winter long even on the coldest days (and we live in an area that gets subzero temps), all for less than $1000 a year.
