  • I can't believe people actually want this. All they are only looking at is their pocket books. They refuse to listen to the people who actually have to live with the results of the "free" health care. I bet that guy's family wishes they had the option to pay and get health care that cost a little more but was quality. The greedy who only want to no have to pay their own way through life need to stop. We don't want this.

  • "The greedy who only want to no have to pay their own way through life need to stop. We don't want this. "

In addition to your point about this, the folks who say they WANT this health care plan are being dumb. They WILL have to pay. This plan is NOT the same as ones in Canada or the UK.

THIS plan collects higher taxes just like other socialized health care systems ... PLUS every person is REQUIRED to pay a monthly insurance premium to their chosen insurance company. Even the "public option" insurance WILL REQUIRE A MONTHLY PAYMENT. It won't be free.

  • OP, here

Waldorf, you are right it will not be free! But, it also won't be quality!

  • What does the article have to do with universal health care??? It doesn't mention anything of the sort, and didn't even happen in the US. Yes, it's a tragic story, but come on; you're trying to link two things that, put together, don't add up.

  • Like the old saying goes: "You get what you pay for!"

The UK is a giant Nanny State. More people live off the government than anywhere else. They have UHC. This is the model that Obama wants for the US! THIS is the kind of care you can expect. Those who want better, will not have the option, as we will all eventually be on the government plan whether we like it or not!

Unfortunately for those who have only ever had UHC, they can't miss what they never had or knew existed. In the US we are fully aware of top notch care versus mediocre care, and we don;t want mediocre--especially if we can afford or want to pay for top notch care!

  • Just what we need! ..You know this screaming desire to be like other countries and have a UHC system needs to come to a screetching hault with all we have going on right now..

  • There will be so many shocked unhappy people in the next few years. Thats how long it will take for them to reall "get" what they have voted for and boy will they be sorry.

I heard today that the amounts of teh penalties for not getting healthcare will be less than they first wanted. I can see those who don't want it to just not get it. Also, since insurance cannot refuse anyone a policy, it is possible for those who don't have it to get sick, get insurance to cover their illness, surgery etc and then let it run out and not renew it. This whole thing is ripe for fraud and thats one of the things they said they would get rid of so the savings could pay for the program. I think not....... Just trading one fraud for another = NO SAVINGS, MORE TAXES

  • What does the article have to do with universal health care?

    OP, here
That is what they have in the UK UHC. The man was on UHC, they harvest smokers lungs for donation because of UHC, the patients don't have a say in what type of lungs they get because they have UHC. Obama wants us to eventually have UHC. Did I connect the dots for you?

  • Many people in the military will disagree with you about their health care

, you feel totally comfortable letting the insurance comany run your health care?? You think they are making decisions based on your personal interest and not their bottom line???
