Whatever monitor you get, it's best to invest in a digital monitor. We registered for a radio frequency monitor, and it picked up every radio wave in our neighborhood, including the church radio broadcasts from the revivalist church around the corner.
About a month after our daughter was born, we broke down and got a digital monitor. They are slightly more expensive, but worth it. I can hear the clock ticking in her room with the digital montor, and no interference. Well worth the money.
