What do you think about Faulkner?

Particularly, Absalom, Absalom...any thoughts would be appreciates, trying to get my brain working tonight...

  • Faulkner is psychological fiction. I'm going to guess you have a paper to write. One of my fav topics is does a character earn/deserve/ bring about his own fate. I did my master's lecture on characters deserving their deaths. I can't remember the plot of Absalom. Faulkner generally likes to use a character's language and diction to clue in the audience about what is going on underneath. I would pull out 2 or 3 really resonate passages and describe how they typify the character's XXX trait. Then use them to support a thesis about the character getting his comeuppance.
