What does it mean if someone says " are you holding out on me"?

  • It means they think you are not telling them something or you are intentionally not giving them something.

  • I agree with the pp's. It can also mean that you're keeping part of yourself separate or distant, like in a relationship, if they are committed to it, but you are holding part of yourself back emotionally because you don't trust him, or trust the relationship to work, they could say "you're holding out on me"...

    Sometimes, it's not good to do this, but other times, you're right to be holding something, regardless of what, back, and the other person is saying it as a means of "guilting" you into giving in and telling them, or into doing what they want.
