How soon did you meet the one after your last serious relationship?

I am looking for some inspiration. I haven't been single too long. Although, I hope the man for me will show up sooner rather than later.

  • 2 weeks but it was only supposed to be a one night stand with someone that I had known of but not known well. Must have done something to him cause I couldn't shake him off. (not that I tried)

  • I met my husband three months after I broke up with my ex, but I got lucky. I wasn't expecting him to be Mr. Right, but he turned out to be the one.

  • I actually met my current SO when I was still with my ex! I know, but my first relationship wasn't going anywhere. We had been together 5 years and things weren't progressing at all. We fought all the time and cheated on each other and did other stupid childish things. Then I met my current SO and he was so different. Very mature, had a job, car and he didn't live with mommy. So when he let me know he wanted something more, I broke it off with my ex and never looked back!

  • I met my hubby after being single for 2 years. It was right as I comfortable with just dating casually, focusing on my career, buying a house when I met him. We were both in the same career field so a professional friendship quickly (but discretely) blossomed into more. It was perfect timing for both of us, because in finding happiness with being single, we also had found peace with who we are (or were ... this was all 5 years ago). It made for a very healthy relationship, marriage and now parenting partners.

The biggest advice I give to women who ask me "how did you do it?" is do NOT settle for anything less than what you expect. I could have settled so many times, but knowing where I would have ended up and knowing what I would have been without has made me thankful for being so patient.

  • I was in an abusive relationship when I met my current husband. He was actually my manager at a new job I had just started. I was 17, he was 21. And he talked me through some tough times with my now ex. He made me see what I was in wasn't healthy. He and I were friends for a few months before we started dating. I didn't leave my ex for him, but I did leave my ex because of him.

  • I met my DH 7 months after my boyfriend broke up with me. I thought I wasn't going to find anyone else. In fact I didn't think that we were going to be together for too long, but we eventually got married. You never know.

  • Um, 1 day! Seriously, I had been on and off with someone for 3 yrs. We finally broke up for good but were still living together when I met my now-husband. We didn't start dating immediately but we did sleep together right away. My ex was furious about it! He was an asshole who always cheated on me, though, so I didn't feel too bad.
