Do you always lose your mucous plug before going into labor or during early labor?

  • Some women don't ever lose anything that looks like a mucus plug. They have more discharge or something, but never know they lost it. It varies from woman to woman.

  • It can happen either or.  It can happen all at once or over a period of time.  Go to and type in "mucus plug".   LOTS of information about it there!

  • You might never notice it.
    With my last baby, it came out about 20 minutes before baby came out.

  • I did. It came out two weeks before my water broke. Looked like a snotty corkscrew with a little bit of dark red blood.
