if a child does not have health insurance - how much is the vaccine?

i have a child who just moved in with my husband and i. he is 8 and has no insurance. we are in the process of getting custody etc. and OUR insurance hasn't added him on yet - although it's been requested a few times.... :( can we get him the flu and swine flu shot without insurance - will it be super expensive???

  • Through the Health Department it's only $10.00 per shot. At most pharmacies it's $25.00.

  • flu hsot is about $20 or $30 at a walmart or drug store flu clinic

  • You should be able to have the cost reimbursed when the insurance is straightened out.

  • Check your health department in your county.

    I know ours is giving swine flue shots out free of charge, and seasonal flue shots for $25...Not much difference from standard co-pay to get the shot with insurance anyway.

  • Check your health department. Because I am without work at the moment, I've been able to get both of my kid's vaccines for free.
