Do you think it's weird when some women decide never to have children??

I know sometimes women start feeling the pressure if they hit 30 and are single and childless.

  • No. My mom was never going to have any.

She accidently got pregnant with me when she was 32, lol
    But she was married. Anyhow.

  • Not at all. Why should women be pressured into having children when they know they don't want to be a parent? It is not law for someone to have kids. I am only having one child, does that make me weird or wrong in some way?

  • I know lots of married couples, some past 30 who are childless. and yes they heard "when are you gonna have children" a lot! if it's not a medical reason, I reckon they just...dont want kids. they are focused on their careers or enjoy having their private time all the time

  • I personally think it's weird, just because I can't ever imagine feeling that way. I've always felt such a strong urge and desire to have children, so I don't understand how a woman wouldn't. I respect their decision and all, though.

  • Nope. I grew up with that though, my favorite aunt declared early on that we (her neices & nephews) and her dogs were her kids. She's married and just turned 49, and no biggies. My sister also says she'll never have kids - she's following the same career path as our aunt, has been married a couple of years, and has a dog who is her baby. I don't see her ever having kids either.

  • Not really. I always said I would never have kids. Until I got knocked up! I can see where a kid could screw up your plans for a career or travel or whatever. Life with and without kids are two totally different experiences.

  • I don't think it's weird, but there is definitely some pressure. It's like some unwritten rule or expectation. Not so much for men.

  • I think it's great that they recognize that they don't want children and decide to not have them. It's awful if they feel like they have to and then hate it.

  • I didn't want kids as a teenager. When I hit around 19 I changed my Mind. Then I met my DH and wanted one even more! Now Im happily and painfully 30 weeks pregnant haha
