question

for the women who breastfeed their babies, when did you get your first period after baby was born. I had my baby 3 weeks ago and i stoped bleeding at 2 weeks, just wondering.

  • I got my period probably 2 months after baby, but I also got on birth control (big mistake).

  • I believe my son was like 9 months when I got my period. But I had gotten the depo when I got my check up at 12 weeks so I think that helped prolong it too. I stopped breast feeding at 3 1/2 months.

  • I got my first period at 5 weeks post-partum, but I didn't ovulate until 4.5 months, so I count my first "real" period as the one at 5 months. And that was exclusively breastfeeding, with no bottles or solids, not even a pacifier. It sucks. :(

    But on the flip side, it's not uncommon to go a year or longer with no period while breastfeeding. There's not really a "normal" with this kind of thing. So there's no point in expecting your period at a certain time, because it's liable to surprise you.
