In an interracial marriage, what is the predominant race of kids?

What usually is the predominant outcome of kids of a black and a white parent? Of the ten couples I know, there are 6 black kids born from a black father and a white mom. Is this so?

  • Usually the children will have a skin tone somewhere between mom and dad. Sometimes it will be closer to the paler skin of the white parent and sometimes it will be closer to the dark tone of the black parent. Sometimes facial features will resemble their white heratage more, sometimes the black. It's almost always somewhere in between, though, just like everyone else.

However, I have only ever seen one child of a black parent not have dark hair. This little girl was so unique, her hair was almost blonde, but very curly, with dusky skin and green eyes. Very lovely.

  • everybody thinks that they are either hispanic or italian they never guess biracial unless all of us are together. My father in-law remarried a predominantly white woman and their children are a little bit lighter than mine w/blonde hair an light brown eyes. The funny thing is I am austrian, irish, italian, and a small percentage of native american w/ an extremely pale skin tone med. brown hair with multi colored tones and blue eyes , and my father in-law's wife is german and a small percentage black and arabic w/ med. skin tone brown dyed blonde hair and brown eyes, our husbands are both black and her children look more white than mine

  • it depends on whose genes are stronger. I have 3 mixed kids and they look black. But I know some black women who have wonderful beautiful little white babies.

  • My daughter looks Puerto Rican and my son looks white with black features....Just because you know ten couples doesn't make that the norm.....Some kids you see you may not know their race and just assume it's one way or the other

  • my question is, if two mixed race people marry and their children are made up of 4 or more races; what race are they, and if they all have a different background like let's say buddhist, christian, muslim, jewish or native american or whatever, what are they to be called?

  • I have seen lots of small children who are likely of mixed heritage with nappy or kinky blonde hair. Quite a few with green eyes, very few with blue eyes. Skin all shades of tan and mocha, so lovely. So much variety so people don't get bored with all of us looking alike.
