can you soak dry beans and freeze to use later?

i was thinking of getting a bag of black beans, but i want to be able to use small portions at a time on a whim (my husband won't eat them, so they'd just be part of lunches for my daughter and i). so can you soak a whole bag and freeze in portions? do they need to be cooked after soaking to freeze better?

  • Nope, they get mushy! I tried, and it was not a good outcome. Canned beans are pretty cheap, and you can use in a flash! Be sure to rinse before you use them, good luck!
